5 Hacks for Bathroom Cleaning.

Staying on top of your cleaning needs around the home while balancing your work, personal and family life can be a challenge. So when you do get those precious minutes of spare time to clean the most used areas of your home, why work harder than you have to? Check out these hacks below to maximize your bathroom cleaning experience so that you have more spare time to do the things that you love.

Start from the top and work your way down.

This is not a bathroom ONLY hack. This is the most effective way to clean every room in your home, allowing you to tackle everything efficiently without having to go over and clean something more than once. If you cleaned your floors first before wiping down the counter and toilet, you are most likely going to have to clean the floors again after you have finished those fixtures. Cleaning your mirror after you wipe your counter could lead you to having to wipe down your counter again due to falling mist from spraying a cleaner onto the mirror.

Give your cleaners time to soak, let them work their magic.

Most cleaners need some time to cut through scum and mildew. I like to spray down my shower and toilet bowl at the very beginning. Then tackle to mirror and counter while those cleaners are soaking away all the bathroom nasties. If you don’t let your cleaners soak, you may have more scrubbing or you may have to spray/ soak again, which is wasting your time and money.

Microfibre cloths are a professional cleaner’s secret weapon.

These cloths pick up dust and dirt like a boss as well as leaving a streak-free shine on your fixtures. I personally like to wipe my cleaners with a wet cloth and immediately follow with a dry cloth to leave all my bathroom fixtures shining and gleaming their natural beauty. Microfibre cloths leave behind much less lint and fuzz than normal cloths or paper towel.

Get back to the basics.

Today’s cleaners are littered with toxic chemicals and dangerous fumes even the “Green Cleaners” have pesky ingredients that are sometimes more toxic than normal cleaners. I personally like to get back to the basics and use the original cleaning products that our great grandparents used. Vinegar and baking soda are powerhouse cleaners that work a lot better than most manufactured cleaners. Stubborn water scale and soap mildew on your glass shower doors and tub? No problem. Dip a scrub brush in baking soda, spritz the problem area and the scrub brush in a diluted vinegar solution then gently scrub away. Vinegar dissolves water scale and baking soda is microscopically abrasive. Trust me, this is a game changer when cleaning your fixtures. (Please note vinegar should never be used on stone like granite and marble, the acid could ruin the finish)

Finish your bathroom by focussing on small details.

Ever wonder why your home looks so much cleaner when a professional home cleaner comes in to do it? It’s because we focus on the small details to give you a superior final product. Use a microfiber cloth to polish the stainless steel fixtures on your sink, toilet and tub. Wipe your shower, sink, counter and exterior of the toilet dry with a microfibre cloth. Tidy any clutter on the counter, wiping any dust or residue on skin care/ hair care bottles. Nicely fold your hand, face and body towels. These small and quick to attend to details will take your finished product from nice to amazing!
